Fountain Valley senior, Lilia Vu fired a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday at Karsten Creek to share the lead after the first round of the PING Invitational with Kaitlyn Papp.

“This is my favorite course of the year and I’ve been looking forward to this event,” Vu said in a press release. “Today I was hitting really good approach shots and making the putts I needed to make and my driving was good as well so that was key.”

Vu had five birdies on the day, three of them coming in her final four holes. She was also the first round leader in this tournament in 2012.

Vu, who medaled twice this past week for the Barons, is a three-time winner in the AJGA, but she has yet to top the leaderboard this year.
