GARDEN GROVE — Oscar Herrera and Marcio Parrales each scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead Bolsa Grande to a 21-8 nonleague victory over Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana on Thursday at Bolsa Grande High.
With his team trailing, 8-7, Herrera outmuscled an Eagles defender for the ball in the end zone to haul in a 24-yard scoring pass from Jesus Segovia to give the Matadors (3-2) a 14-8 lead.
“He had a hold of my shirt, so I flicked him off of me and tapped the ball to myself,” said Herrera, who also had a sack at the Matadors’ 11-yard line on a fourth-down play to stop a scoring threat for the Eagles (2-4)late in the second quarter.
Moments after Herrera’s TD, Parrales broke tackles en route to a 60-yard TD run that sealed Bolsa Grande’s victory.
Mikhail Lowery gave the Matadors a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 54-yard touchdown run.
Calvary grabbed an 8-7 lead in the third period on an 11-yard pass from Tikey Mahlow to Brandon Perez and Scott Matsuda’s 2-point conversion.

Its always good to see a program make progress; Bolsa Grande is the only school in the Garde Grove league that has ever one a CIF championship(1986) and for so many years Bolsa was put down as a “horrible team” but schools always have its up and downs and at this point of the season it looks like this team is very competitive. So all you ignorant people running your lips be careful because your up for a surprise.

Yes i believe this is true. So please start giving BOLSA GRANDE some credit. Try presenting an article on the story of the school for once. I was a sophmore when we won the championship.
