OCVarsity preview for the 2015 season:
NORTHWOOD TIMBERWOLVES
Coach: Dean Toohey
Last season: 7-4 overall, 3-2 in league
Scouting report: The Timberwolves have to replace the majority of their offensive leaders from last season. Trevor Lawrence, who passed for 499 yards last year, replaces Brian Abel at quarterback. Lawrence should feel comfortable playing behind a senior-laden offensive line. The Timberwolves returns a large contingent of seniors on defense and have a lot of size on that side of the line, led by 6-3 senior end Garrett O’Connor. Coach Dean Toohey has six starters returning on both sides of the ball. If a new group of receivers can contribute right away, Northwood should be in the middle of the race for a playoff berth.
Bottom line: Northwood is an interesting team, with solid newcomers ready to step in and lead it back to the playoffs.
Players to watch: Taylor Cleary, CB, Sr.; Trevor Lawrence, QB, Sr.; Garrett O’Connor, TE/DE, Sr.; Spencer Tran, RB, Sr.
