Garden Grove overpowers Laguna Beach, 42-24

GARDEN GROVE – The Garden Grove Argonauts extended their winning streak to four games Friday night, crushing the Laguna Beach Breakers, 42-24, at Laguna Beach High.Laguna Beach (1-4) was outmatched in the trenches, allowing 364 yards rushing. Breakers sophomore quarterback Austin Paxson was sacked three times.
Argonauts (4-0) captain Sean Young rushed for 253 yards on 19 carries. His longest rush came late in the first quarter — an 80-yard score on a fake punt.
The junior running back had a 58-yard run midway through the second quarter, scoring his second of four touchdowns in the game and bringing the halftime score to 21-0.
While Laguna Beach failed to put a point on the board in the first half, it at least made the game competitive by putting up 24 points in the second half.
However, Paxson struggled to develop any momentum in the game, completing only 10 of 26 passes for 142 yards with one interception.
Argonauts quarterback Robert Stevens completed 3 of 14 pass attempts for 74 yards.
