SANTA ANA – Geovanni Estrada rushed for 186 yards and four touchdowns as Saddleback defeated Laguna Beach, 49-28, in an Orange Coast League game Friday night at Segerstrom High.

“I know it looked like we scored a lot of points, but we made some huge mistakes,” Saddleback coach Rob Thompson said about Laguna Beach taking the lead early. “That first quarter kind of gave me a lot of anxiety.”

Saddleback (4-3, 1-1) tallied 428 offensive yards with 301 of those coming from its stout ground attack.

Laguna Beach (2-5, 0-2) seemed to move the ball well, but mistakes kept it from keeping an early first-quarter lead.

The Breakers gained 246 total offensive yards while Jack Simon completed 20 of 29 passes with two touchdowns and one interception.

Although Laguna Beach took an early 7-0 lead after special teams player Ryan Blaser stripped the football from Saddleback runner Rene Gonzalez on the opening kickoff and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown, Saddleback’s attack could not be stopped.

Osvaldo Zuno threw a 40-yard touchdown strike to Jacob Roa to start the fourth quarter and increase the lead to 49-21, deflating any hopes of a Laguna Beach comeback.

Zuno threw a 25-yard pass to Jonathon Reyes to start the second half, Estrada capped off the drive with a tough 6-yard touchdown run to increase the lead to 35-13.
