Outlook: Laguna Hills and Mater Dei found different ways to win their four playoff matches, making their championship showdown not only a surprising finale, but an intriguing one. Both teams are streaking at the right time, as the Hawks have won eight straight, while the Monarchs are 8-0-2 in their last 10. Laguna Hills has been spectacular defensively, as senior goalkeeper Jocelyne Vera has not allowed a goal in the playoffs. Mater Dei has scored at least two goals in each of the first four rounds, and Coach Matty West has seen six different players tally goals along the way. Senior midfielder Briana Meyer has scored back-to-back winning goals, and Olivia Ware is always a threat to score. It will be interesting to see how the contrasting styles match up with a CIF title on the line.
