Kushen is one of the leaders for a solid Tesoro boys cross country team, and he earned second-team All-County honors a year ago. Kushen pushes himself academically as well, as his course load currently includes five AP classes ranging from calculus to literature. He is involved in Tesoro’s National Honor Society, where he was elected as the club’s head of publicity. Kushen also said he is involved with Lion’s Heart, a teen volunteer organization, which participates in community service. On Saturday, Kushen won the Division 2 senior boys race at the Laguna Hills Invitational with a time of 15:35.
