LAGUNA HILLS – Kristian Crabb from Huntington Beach was selected Tuesday as the first captain of the South team in the upcoming Brea Lions Orange County All-Star Football Game.

Crabb was the Sunset League co-offensive lineman of the year in 2015.

“He’s the first one here and the last one to leave. He’s been a leader since day one,” South coach Mike Maceranka said. “He comes into our coaches office and talks football with us and how excited he is to play one last high school game. It’s really fun to see.

Football is in Crabb’s blood. His father, Kerry, is a coach at Saddleback College and has coached in Southern California for 30 years. He was the coach at Cypress from 1997-2004.

Crabb ‘s parents instilled a work ethic in Kristian that has impressed the South coaches.

“I’ve always wanted to be the first one there and show that I work the hardest and make sure nobody takes my position,” Crabb said.

Crabb has more to offer than just work ethic and intangibles. His play on the field has been impressive as well.
“We watched him and film and said ‘this kid can flat out play,’ and we called him and he was one of those guys who was very excited and everyone gravitated towards,” Maceranka said.

Crabb will play at Saddleback College next year along with many of his South teammates. He is excited to play one last high school game before taking the field on Saturdays for the Gauchos.

“High school football has been such a big part of my life,” Crabb said. “Being able to go out there one last time under the lights in that high school atmosphere will be amazing.”
