BREA – Foothill dominated every facet of its game against Brea Olinda on Friday, winning the nonleague contest, 42-10, at Brea Olinda High.

Knights quarterback Preston Moebius led the offense, completing 11 of 17 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns and rushing eight times for 101 yards and two more scores.

Running back Jared Copeland rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Richard Barajas and Joey Schlemer each had interceptions for the Knights (3-1), who limited Brea Olinda (1-3) to 133 yards rushing and 31 yards passing and allowed the Wildcats into the red zone just once in the game.

And the Knights special teams accounted for the game’s first score, when Chris Yaghi blocked a punt in the end zone and teammate Jonathan Mejia dove on the ball, giving Foothill an early 7-0 lead.

The 42 points were a season high for the Knights and Coach Doug Case was more than pleased, especially coming off a 17-7 defeat last week against Palos Verdes.

“We had a lot of contributors in a lot of different areas,” Case said. “Preston (Moebius) took control of the game and spread the ball around, and we had some great efforts by the running backs and receivers and the offensive line did a fantastic job.”

With Foothill ahead 7-0, Moebius displayed speed and cutting ability in breaking free for a 57 yard touchdown.

Wildcats quarterback Malik Campbell showed that he could run as well, sprinting for a 55-yard touchdown on the ensuing possession to get Brea Olinda back to within a touchdown.

But it was all Foothill from there.

Moebius connected with David Lopez for a 37-yard touchdown and then rushed for 7-yard score, completing a 21-point second quarter and putting the Knights ahead 28-7 at the half.

The Knights’ defense limited the Wildcats to just five second half possessions.

The Knights have given up an average of 11 points per game through four games, but Case expects a challenge next week against Canyon.

“They’re real prolific on offense,” the coach said. “It will be a tough test for us.”
