A four-year member of the Monarchs baseball team, Kiehnle has also established himself as one of the school’s top scholastic performers and school ambassadors. He is currently taking AP English 4, AP American Government, AP Spanish Literature, Physics, Pre-Calculus, and Peace and Justice. He is the senior class president at Mater Dei and has been nominated for valedictorian. He is active in such school clubs as the Fellowship of Athletic Monarchs, Renaissance, the Junior Statesman of America, the National Honor Society, and the California Scholastic Federation. Kiehnle is also affiliated with the National League of Young Men and is currently the speaker chairman. Through the organization, he has worked with the Boys and Girls Club of Costa Mesa, the Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen in Costa Mesa. Kiehnle has also volunteered as an umpire with the Newport Harbor Baseball Association and is a certified U.S. soccer referee. He is currently considering attending UCLA, Boston College, or Georgetown next year, where he plans to major in political science or economics with a minor in spanish.
