Breaking down Division 4AA of the girls basketball playoffs:

DIVISION 4AA

Top seeds: JSerra, Harvard-Westlake, Bishop Montgomery, Rosary

County representatives: JSerra, Estancia, Costa Mesa, Rosary, Laguna Beach
Rapid reaction: The bracket sets up nicely for JSerra. With a first-round bye, the Lions will need to win two games to advance to the semifinals, where they could potentially meet up with Trinity League foe Rosary, the division No. 4 seed. JSerra was 2-0 against the Royals in the regular season, notching wins of 22 and 25 points.

The Lions appear to have one of the deepest teams, as Megan House, Julia Ackerman, Coco Miller, Kaitlyn Reis and Lexi Vail have at least once 20-point game in their name this season. Not many other teams can say they have five players who have done the same.

On the bottom half of the bracket, Harvard-Westlake is a scary No. 2 seed. Much like JSerra and Rosary, they come from a loaded league in the Mission League. The Mission sent two teams to the Open Division (Chaminade and Alemany) where the Trinity’s lone representative was Mater Dei.
