Basketball: Jayce Johnson transfers to JSerra
Jayce Johnson, a 7-foot boys basketball player, has transferred to JSerra from Mater Dei, JSerra athletic director Jim Hartigan confirmed today.
Johnson played in 32 of Mater Dei's 36 games last year. He averaged three points and three rebounds a game. He averaged about eight minutes a game.
Mater Dei coach Gary McKnight said Johnson would have started for the Monarchs this season.
"I wish him the best," McKnight said. "He's a good kid, works hard and he's a good student, too. I think he might lead the county in rebounding some year soon."
JSerra will have Johnson and 6-9 junior Nick Pallas anchoring the Lions' inside game. Pallas had transferred to JSerra from Tesoro before the 2012-13 season.
Rex Pflueger, a 6-5 junior guard, transferred to Mater Dei from JSerra this past spring. Pflueger avareged 11 points at JSerra lats season.
