Scouting report: Loaded with talent at the skill positions, the Highlanders are the favorites to win the league championship, which would be their seventh in a row. Junior Eric Barriere is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the county after throwing for 2,401 yards and 29 TDs last season. Senior Edrick Flores will likely be one of Barriere’s go-to receivers. This team has the potential to pile up yards on the ground, too, with Carlos Martin returning as the featured back. Last season, Martin averaged 7.0 yards per carry. Martin and Barriere had the luxury of working behind a big, experienced offensive line a year ago, but that is no longer the case. Coach Frank Mazzota says the offensive line will likely be made up of at least four juniors.
