UPDATE: Keyshawn Johnson Jr. officially enrolled at Santa Margarita

Sophomore receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr., the son of former USC and NFL standout Keyshawn Johnson, announced on Twitter that he will transfer to Santa Margarita.

“I’ll be transferring to Santa Margarita Catholic High School,” Johnson tweeted.

Johnson said Monday night that he would be leaving Mission Viejo.

Johnson spent Tuesday afternoon checking out various schools, including Santa Margarita.

Eagles coach Rick Curtis was not immediately available Tuesday night to confirm the news.

Santa Margarita opened the season with a 26-21 victory against Bishop Amat of La Puente last week.

Johnson recorded one catch in the Diablos’ 18-7 loss to Liberty of Bakersfield.

MONDAY’S STORY: Johnson announces that he will leave Mission Viejo  

Mission Viejo sophomore receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr., the son of former USC and NFL standout Keyshawn Johnson, announced Monday evening he will transfer from Mission Viejo.

“I will be transferring from Mission Viejo for academic reasons,” Johnson Jr. tweeted. “I don’t know where I’m going yet but somewhere to better myself.”

Diablos coach Bob Johnson also confirmed the transfer on Monday night.

Johnson (6-1, 180) posted one reception in the Mission Viejo’s season-opening 18-7 loss to Liberty of Bakersfield on Friday night.

Johnson has received offers from schools such as Florida State, Ohio State and Miami.
