Most Orange County boys basketball teams that lost on Friday are done for the season.

Los Alamitos lost on Friday. The Griffins will keep playing, though, and even have a home game coming up.

Los Alamitos is in the CIF-Southern Section’s Open Division. Unlike in the CIF-SS’s other 11 divisions, the Open Division playoffs are played like a December tournament, with a championship bracket and a consolation bracket. Los Alamitos’ loss to Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth in the Open Division first round Friday sent the Griffins to the division’s consolation bracket.

They play Tuesday against Roosevelt of Eastvale, which lost to Redondo Union in the Open Division first round. A coin flip determined the home team. Los Alamitos won the flip so is the home team Tuesday for the 7 p.m. game.

If Los Alamitos loses to Roosevelt, the Griffins season is not over. By being selected to the Open Division, Los Alamitos received a berth in the CIF Southern California Regionals which is the qualifying tournament for the CIF State championships.

Orange Lutheran, which lost to Bishop Montgomery of Torrance in the Open Division first round Friday, plays at Crespi of Encino in a consolation bracket game Tuesday. Lutheran lost the coin flip that identified the  home team.

Mater Dei won a coin flip and is the home team against Centennial of Corona on Tuesday in the Open Division championship bracket. The Monarchs defeated Cantwell Sacred Heart of Montebello on Friday. In the California state rankings provided by CalHiSports.com, Mater Dei is No. 4 and Centennial is No. 9.

In Division 3A, Ocean View won a coin flip to be the home team Tuesday against top-seeded and undefeated Rancho Mirage (29-0) in the quarterfinals.

Open Division games Tuesday are second-round games. Other divisions play quarterfinal games Tuesday.
