Three is a crowd. So they will have to play them one at a time.

Canyon, El Modena and Villa Park all have CIF-Southern Section football playoffs second-round home games. All three use the stadium at El Modena High, Fred Kelly Stadium, as their home field.

To accommodate the teams, El Modena plays there Thursday, Villa Park on Friday and Canyon on Saturday.

Home teams have been settled for the second round. Venues have not.

While it can be expected that the usual home sites for home teams will be used for the second round, there could be changes. Such changes will be announced by the CIF-SS office early in the coming week.

For example, Rancho Cucamonga, which plays Tesoro in a West Valley Division second-round game, usually uses Los Osos High as its home field. It can be expected that Tesoro-Rancho Cucamonga will be played at Los Osos, but a different venue could be selected.

Some confirmations of sites have arrived. Orange Lutheran confirmed Saturday that its Pac-5 Division game against top-seeded Centennial of Corona will be at Orange Coast College on Friday at 7 p.m.

The CIF-SS sets football playoff games as 7:30 p.m. games. Game times can be changed if the change is agreed upon by both teams and is approved by the CIF-SS office. Time changes are common; all eight Southern Division first-round games were changed to 7 p.m. starts.

Coin flips decided home teams in some games. When two teams meet after the first round of the playoffs, the team with the fewest number of playoff home games at that point of the playoffs is the home team. If the two teams have played the same number of playoff home games a coin flip decides the home team.
