Velasco’s third-place finish at the Central Park Invitational, with a time of 18.05.94, helped pace Los Alamitos to first place in Division 1. The freshman was the top O.C. runner in the meet. She took first place by a nearly 13-second margin at the Sunset League Preview meet on Sept. 21.
