OCVarsity’s scouting report for 2016:

SAN JUAN HILLS STALLIONS

Coach: Aaron Flowers

Last season: 8-3 overall, 2-2 South Coast League

Scouting report: It could be difficult for the Stallions to repeat the success they had in 2015. They lost an outstanding quarterback, Patrick O’Brien, to graduation. Doug Jackson, a junior transfer from San Clemente, is among the candidates to replace O’Brien. They have to rebuild the offensive line. San Juan Hills has a returning star at wide receiver, Jacob Huff, who had 82 catches for 1,293 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Coach Aaron Flowers expects steady production from running backs Cole Suchesk and Brock Cazel, both seniors. San Juan Hills returns six starters on defense, including defensive tackle JJ Glass who was all-league second team in 2015. Overall, the Stallions don’t seem to match up well with the top teams in the league and depth could be an issue. “The hardest part for us is staying healthy,” Flowers said. “Already in camp we’ve had guys nicked up. Suddenly, you go from looking good to playing a shell game where you’re moving pieces around.”

Bottom line: San Juan Hills will have to produce a series of upsets to return to the playoffs.

Players to watch: JJ Glass, DT, Sr.; Jacob Huff, WR, Sr.; Cayden McCluskey, WR, Sr.; Cole Suchesk, RB, Sr.
