John Wooldridge resigned as Sunny Hills boys basketball coach, Sunny Hills athletic director Jon Caffrey announced Friday.

Wooldridge coached the Lancers for nine seasons. They won two Freeway League championships during his tenure. Sunny Hills advanced to the CIF-Southern Section 2AA semifinals and qualified for the CIF State tournament in the 2011-12 season.

Sunny Hills 15-13 overall and 4-6 in the Freeway League this past season. The Lancers qualified for the 2A playoffs as at-large team. They beat a league champion, Jurupa Hills, in the first round and lost to second-seeded Santa Barbara in the second round.

Wooldridge’s teams were known for their fast-paced offense and pressing-defense styles.

Wooldridge said Friday that he resigned to that he can spend more time with his family. He will continue to work Sunny Hills in the physical education department.
