MISSION VIEJO – Trabuco Hills ended its regular season on a high note Friday night, dominating Laguna Hills on its way to a 55-14 victory at Trabuco Hills High.

The Mustangs (6-4, 3-1) finished second in the Sea View League behind San Clemente and will enter the CIF-SS playoffs for the first time since 2009.

Trabuco Hills began the contest by asserting its physical prowess on the line of scrimmage by feeding the ball to Chad Crosbie. The junior running back touched the ball six times in the opening drive and capped the possession with a 1-yard score for the early 7-0 lead.

Crosbie finished the game with 107 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

The Mustangs forced a three-and-out and got back on the board with a 36-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Jacobs to Brenden Schooler. Trabuco Hills needed just three plays to extend its lead.

Schooler scored again early in the second quarter on a 14-yard touchdown reception that pushed the lead to 20-0.

After an interception by Bret Bohan, Oregon-bound wide receiver Jacob Breeland added to the lead two plays later with a spectacular catch-and-run that showcased his strength and speed. The 37-yard touchdown catch gave the Mustangs a 27-0 advantage.

The Hawks got on the scoreboard when Jacob Maga hauled in a 6-yard pass in the back of the end zone.

Not to be outdone by the elder Schooler, sophomore Colin Schooler joined the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown run with 4:18 left in the half.

That drive was the third time the Mustangs scored in three plays or fewer as they continued their big-play trend to build their lead.

Trabuco held Laguna Hills (1-9, 0-4) to 20 yards rushing in the first half.
