WEST HILLS — Brea Olinda coach Darryl Hilliard said his three goals before the season were to finish in the top three of the Century League, reach the section finals, and make a run in the state tournament.

“Did I think that was going to happen?” Hilliard said. “No.”

The Wildcats’ unexpected season came to an end Tuesday as they lost, 77-49, to top-seeded Chaminade of West Hills in a CIF Southern California Regionals Division 3 semifinal.

Brea Olinda (25-11) attained all three of its preseason goals and won more games than any team in the program over the past decade.

“I’m very thankful for my senior class,” Hilliard said. “I’m their third coach in four years. For them to do everything they accomplished is just incredible. I hope that the underclassmen can take this and move forward.”

Brea Olinda senior guard Jonathan Wallace had a team-high 13 points and senior forward Michael Turner had 11. The No. 4 seed Wildcats were even with the Eagles after a quarter but were never comfortable 60 miles from home at Chaminade High.

Chaminade (25-6), which participated in the CIF-SS Open Division, scored six of the first seven points of the second quarter and led by 23 at the end of the third quarter. Guard Justin Eisen had 23 points and forward Jack Williams had 18 points, as the Eagles dominated inside and out.

Chaminade will face No. 3 seed Santa Margarita in the regional finals on Saturday at Colony High at 8 p.m.
