There weren't any marquee matchups on Thursday night, but there was plenty of action going on in O.C. football.Magnolia and Loara tangled in an all-Anaheim matchup at Western High in a game that featured five lead changes. Sentinels running back Robert Cruz showed off some nifty moves, going for 197 yards, including a 65-yard TD run, to take over as the county's rushing leader.
But it was Loara holding on to beat the Sentinels, 33-28.
El Dorado was without star quarterback Kane Wilson (right shoulder injury), so sophomore Andreas Ambuehl stepped in as his replacement against Glendora. The Golden Hawks had a 14-3 lead at halftime, but Glendora came on strong in the second half to pull away for a 24-14 victory at Valencia High. El Dorado, the defending-Southwest Division champion, finished the nonleague portion of its schedule with a 1-4 record.
Running Backs Aaron Garbutt and Louie Villa combined for 304 rushing yards and four touchdowns to help Westminster pull out a 30-23 victory over Santa Ana Valley at Ocean View High.
