Outlook: The winner will be headed to the CIF-SS finals for the first time. The fourth-seeded Lancers are in the semifinals for the first time. They won their first Trinity League title earlier this season. Top-seeded Loyola is 0 for 7 in the Division 1 semifinals but rides the momentum from a recent upset of Harvard-Westlake for the Mission League title. Defense will be critical for both teams. The Cubs excelled at drawing exclusions against Newport Harbor in the quarterfinals while the Lancers’ duo of Ash Molthen and Hannes Daube will challenge Loyola with their perimeter shooting.
