Guite's 5 TDs propel Huntington Beach to victory
IRVINE - Quarterback Sean Guite provided the big offensive lift Thursday night for Huntington Beach, leading the Oilers to a 42-7 Sea View League victory over Northwood at Irvine High.
Guite threw five touchdown passes to help the Oilers (5-3, 2-1) stay in the playoff hunt.
Guite had two interceptions in the first half, but he was solid after that, finishing with 8 of 15 completions for 154 yards.
“He was very good,” Huntington Beach coach Eric Lo said. “He had two interceptions, but they weren’t his fault.”
Northwood (3-5, 0-3) was led by QB Ricky Bautista, who completed 16 of 31 for 154 yards.
Guite connected with Cameron Pizzica on a 6-yard TD pass in the first quarter. Jack Dilbeck scored from 1 yard out midway through the second to make it 14-0.
Guite threw a 21-yard TD pass to Shawn Lemaster and a 12-yard TD pass to Kaller Roemer in the second quarter to give the Oilers a 28-0 lead at halftime.
He then hit Roemer on a 23-yard TD pass in the third and teamed up with LeMaster on a 39-yard TD pass in the fourth.
