Wally Grant has resigned as football head coach at Costa Mesa, he announced Wednesday.

Grant coached the Mustangs for four seasons. They were 21-21 during his tenure.

Costa Mesa was 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the Orange Coast League this season. The Mustangs went 5-0 in league to win the league championship in 2013.

Grant first made his impact on Orange County football as defensive coordinator at Costa Mesa when Myron Miller was head coach there. Grant followed Miller to Tustin where Grant’s defense was a large part of the Tillers’ success.

Grant said via text message that his plan is to continue coaching, but at a larger school in a higher league.
