Canyon’s Aleeah Gould (116) and Valencia’s Gabby Garcia (131) both won titles Saturday at the Carter High girls tournament to kick off the season.
Gould won three matches by fall to advance to the finals where she defeated Sugey Ceja of Corona, 5-2.
Garcia won four matches by fall, all in the first period, to earn middleweight MVP honors.
Canyon’s Emily Tovar finished fifth at 137 pounds and Valencia’s Lissette Lascano finished second at 189 pounds. Canyon’s Sydney Nelson was seventh at 143 pounds.
Canyon and Valencia finished tied for seventh in the team standings.
