Senior Thea Elkhouri scored three goals and Ava Mattis and Megan O’Malley each added two to help Troy’s girls water polo team open defense of its Freeway League title with a 9-7 victory against La Habra at Fullerton College on Wednesday night.
The Warriors (7-3, 1-0) have won 51 consecutive league matches since dropping a Freeway match against Sunny Hills in 2011.
Jessica Calderon netted three goals for La Habra (4-10, 0-1) while Natasha Velez added two.
In other Freeway League openers, Buena Park beat Sonora, 10-3, and Fullerton surprised Sunny Hills, 9-7.
