OCVarsity’s list of the top players to watch for the 2016-17 season:
Herminio Padilla, Sunny Hills: The senior midfielder returns finishing with 12 goals and three assists last season and being selected the Register’s player of the year and CIF-SS Division 2 player of the year. Four of the five postseason goals he scored were game winners.
Bryan Ibarra, Godinez: The senior forward was the Orange Coast League offensive player of the year and CIF-SS Division 4 player of the year last season while leading the Grizzlies to their first CIF-SS title in boys soccer. He scored 27 goals, including two in the Grizzlies’ 2-0 victory against South Torrance in the Division 4 championship game.

Dom Bair, Edison: The senior forward is a fast, dynamic player. Coach Charlie Breneman predicts Bair will “score goals in bunches this season.” He scored 14 goals last winter.
Devin Cornejo, Valencia: The senior midfielder was selected as the Empire League offensive MVP after finishing with nine goals.
Chris Lopez, Katella: The senior was selected the Sunny Hills Summer League MVP. He scored eight goals during the month-long tournament, including one that tied the score in the championship match.
