Trevor Jackson, a junior goalie at Huntington Beach, has been selected to play for the Scotland boys under-19 boys lacrosse team at the World Championships in Turku, Finland, July 12-21.

“In July 2011, we contacted Lacrosse Scotland because Trevor has dual citizenship due to his dad, Richard, being born in Glasgow, Scotland,” said Jackson’s mother, Kris.

The family sent a video to Scotland’s men’s director Keith Robertson and head coach John Kearney. They then asked if the family would send Jackson to Scotland for a training camp. Jackson went and based on his performance was selected to the team, his mother said.

As a sophomore last year, Jackson had 141 saves and a 60 percent save percentage for Huntington Beach, which was the Sunset League champion. He was named second team all-league. Jackson also attended a number of national camps and was selected to represent Southern California in the All-American National Lacrosse Classic.

The world championships happen every four years.

“It’s cool to get to play against the best lacrosse players in the world with the Scotland national team,” Jackson said.

Sophomore Savanna Krause had three goals and one assist and sophomore Luna Tsujimoto had two goals.
