Yasmeen Flores scored the golden goal early in the first overtime period to give Katella a 3-2 win over visiting Santa Clarita Christian on Tuesday in the wild-card round of the CIF-SS Division 6 girls soccer playoffs.

Flores took the ball at midfield and dribbled through the Cardinals’ defense before launching a 30-yard shot just over the goalkeeper’s reach. The goal came less than five minutes into overtime.

The Knights were able to force overtime with a last-minute goal by Lilbeth Aguirre, who took a shot from near midfield that found the back of the net.

Melissa Ruiz scored the first goal for the Knights early in the second half. Katella goalie Jackie Mejia had four saves.

Katella will play at Paloma Valley of Menifee in the first round on Thursday.

In Division 7:

Los Amigos 2, Rubidoux of Riverside 1 (OT): Myra De La Cruz scored the golden goal in overtime to lead the Lobos to a victory at Rubidoux. Cruz’s goal came near the end of the first overtime period.

Isabelle Avila scored for Los Amigos in the first half. Goalie Ilene Ignacio anchored the Lobos’ defense and did not allow a goal in the second half or overtime period.

Los Amigos will play at Laguna Blanca of Santa Barbara in the first round Thursday.

Viewpoint of Calabasas 1, Santa Ana 0: Despite a possession advantage and outshooting its opponent 12-3, Santa Ana (13-8-2) was unable to net an equalizer and fell to the visiting Patriots.

After a scoreless first half, Santa Ana continued to threaten on offense but Viewpoint sophomore Maya Sandel scored the game’s lone goal after eluding two Santa Ana defenders and putting the ball past senior goalkeeper Jo Martinez in the 50th minute.
