Kennedy’s Madison Lauren Camp and University’s Lorena Egea went through the first day of the CIF-SS Girls Individual Championships with relative ease.

Both girls won their first three matches at Eleanor Roosevelt High Friday by fall.

Saturday, they will face off for a chance to advance to the finals. Egea, the second seed and Camp, the sixth seed, will meet in one of the semifinals.

The semifinals are scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

In the upper half of the bracket, Westminster freshman Aine Drury also went 3-0, winning two matches by fall and another by 10-0 major decision to advance to the semifinals where she will meet top seed Mikayla Miles of Nordhoff.

At 116 pounds, Yesenia Bustos (Santa Ana) and Gwen McDonald (Esperanza) both went 3-0 and will face each other in the semifinals.

Samantha Salas (Godinez) and Amara Devericks (San Clemente) have also advanced to the semifinals at 160 and 189 pounds, respectively.

There are 18 other county wrestlers starting the day in the consolation bracket.
