The Foothill boys lacrosse team and the Capistrano Valley girls team each grabbed the top seeds for the U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section South Division playoffs.

The Knights (16-1) were made the top seed by the lacrosse seeding committee on Saturday while the No. 1 Cougars girls enter the postseason at 15-0.

Corona del Mar (13-1) is the No. 2 seed in the boys bracket, while JSerra (14-4) is seeded third, and San Clemente (14-4) was made the No. 4 seed.

For the girls, Los Alamitos (10-6) earned the second seed. Foothill (14-2) is the No. 3 seed, and Beckman (12-2) is fourth.

The Los Alamitos girls have won five consecutive county and section titles and will look to make it a sixth consecutive this season. The Griffins defeated Beckman, 15-12, in the county finals a year ago.

St. Margaret’s boys are the defending county and section champions. Last season, the Tartans beat Corona del Mar, 12-7, for the county crown. The Sea Kings will attempt to reach their third consecutive title game.

The first round of the playoffs for both boys and girls will begin on Tuesday afternoon, followed by the second round on Thursday. Times for each game vary.

Laguna Hills High will be the site for both boys and girls semifinal matchups on Saturday.

Aliso Niguel will be the host school for both county title games, which will be played on May 14.

Winners of those games advance to the section finals on May 17, which will be played at Huntington Beach High.
