WESTMINSTER – On the only scoreboard Garden Grove was paying attention to Friday night, the Argonauts won by 45 points.

Not until after their 62-17 win over La Quinta at Bolsa Grande High were they aware that Los Amigos had lost to Rancho Alamitos, giving the Argonauts their fourth consecutive Garden Grove League title.

Now there will be plenty of time to do what they didn’t do at all facing La Quinta: celebrate.

For four quarters against the Aztecs (3-6, 1-4), Garden Grove’s sideline never behaved abnormally. At times, the play on the field was – the Argonauts (7-2, 4-0), still dealing with an injury to starting quarterback Danny Avila two weeks ago, fumbled the center snap five times.

Still, the Argonauts provided plenty of evidence as to why they’re the champs. Led by Jordan Antunez’s 200 yards rushing (10 carries), the Argonuats averaged 15 yards per carry. Defensively, lineman Nathan Garcia starred with three tackles for losses, a sack and a quarterback pressure that set up Malik Bilal’s 81-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Antunez scored on runs of 3, 74 and 62 yards. Fitu Lupematasila scored on a 32-yard run, threw a 50-yard scoring pass to Adam Johnson and finished with 145 yards (85 passing).
