Garden Grove slams La Quinta, 62-0
GARDEN GROVE - Garden Grove’s offense was virtually unstoppable as the Agronauts defeated La Quinta, 62-0, Thursday night in a Garden Grove League game at Bolsa Grande High.
Garden Grove (8-0, 3-0) scored touchdowns on five of its first six possessions and racked up 349 yards of offense in the first half as the Argonauts remained undefeated and atop the league.
Jesse Lozano capped Garden Grove’s opening drive with a 17-yard TD run. On the Argonauts’ next possession, Sean Young sprinted 38 yards for a score giving Garden Grove a 14-0 lead after the first quarter.
Garden Grove added three touchdowns in the second quarter. Christian Trejo and Lozano scored touchdowns on runs of 17 and 33 yards, respectively, and Young completed a 2-yard TD pass to Avery Williams on the final play of the quarter to give Garden Grove a commanding 34-0 halftime lead.
Josh Webb and Joaquin Reynoso led the defensive charge as they helped limit the Aztecs (2-6, 2-1) to 31 yards and three first downs in the opening half.
