Mission Viejo will be the only Orange County football team playing its CIF-Southern Section championship game at Angel Stadium.
When the Diablos play Vista Murrieta in the West Valley Division championship game Saturday, it will be their seventh time playing a CIF final at the Big A. It will be Mission Viejo’s sixth game there since Bob Johnson became Diablos coach at the start of this century.
Mission Viejo was victorious in CIF finals at Angel Stadium in 2001,’02 and ’04. The Diablos lost in section finals there in ’03 and ’10.
The West Valley final is a 2 p.m. game. The Pac-5 championship game, between defending champion St. John Bosco and Centennial of Corona, will be Saturday at 8 p.m. at Angel Stadium.
Two CIF-SS championship games are all-Orange County matchups.
Trabuco Hills plays San Clemente in the Southwest Division final Friday at a site to be announced. San Clemente is the home team. That game could be played at San Clemente’s on-campus venue, which has a capacity of 5,000.
San Clemente beat Trabuco Hills in October in a Sea View League game, 42-35.
Rancho Alamitos plays Garden Grove in the Southern Division final Saturday at Orange Coast College. That also is a rematch. Garden Grove beat Rancho Alamitos, 35-7, in October in a Garden Grove League game.
St. Margaret’s plays Grace Brethren of Simi Valley in the East Valley final Saturday. The site is to be determined. When St. Margaret’s was the host school for a CIF football final in 2008 the game was played at St. Margaret’s on-campus venue.
St. Margaret’s is in its sixth section championship football game over the past eight years. The Tartans won four in a row from 2006-09, and lost to Jurupa Hills of Fontana in last year’s East Valley final.

Friday:
Southwest Division: Trabuco Hills (9-4) vs. San Clemente (12-1), site TBA
Saturday:
East Valley Division: Grace Brethren of Simi Valley (13-0) vs. St. Margaret’s (13-0), site TBA
Southern Division: Rancho Alamitos (11-2) vs. Garden Grove (12-1) at Orange Coast College
West Valley Division: Vista Murrieta (11-2) vs. Mission Viejo (11-2) at Angel Stadium, 2 p.m.
