Coach Mike Starkweather called Furey “one of the most honorable student athletes” that he’s coach in 43 years. Furey is enrolled in AP Government, AP Economics, AP Art History, AP Statistics, AP Environmental and Comparative Literature 4. He is involved in the National Honor Sociey. As a freshman and sophomore, he was in Peer Assistance Leadership. Furey has also served in the National League of Young Men and the he was the President of the Newport Beach Chapter as a sophomore. Furey is CdM’s captain. He has earned medals in four matches this season and his low score for nine holes is 34 so far. He was fourth out of 218 golfers at the Champions Invitational and helped CdM to a second-place finish. His plans are to continue his golf career at Harvard.
