CERRITOS – The lights at Gahr’s football stadium may have needed some time to warm up but Fullerton’s offense was electric to start on its way to a 30-14 road victory Friday night.

The game was delayed 18 minutes as the lights slowly turned off a few minutes before the opening kickoff. Once the lights came back on, Fullerton running back Marcus Roberson could hardly be stopped.

The senior got Fullerton rolling on the Indians’ first play from scrimmage as he took a draw up the middle and then turned it to the outside down the left sideline for an 80-yard scoring run. Roberson rushed for 148 yards on seven carries.

Fullerton (4-1) got the ball back immediately as Adam Gonzalez recovered the pooch kickoff for the Indians at the Gahr 40. Fullerton quarterback Jordan Lawton connected with Benny Pichardo for a 45-yard pass to push the Indians’ lead to 13-0.

The Indians added a 29-yard field goal by Raymond Gomez-Garcia to make it 16-0 with 4:17 left in the first half.

Gahr fell to 2-3.

The Gladiators (2-3) got on the scoreboard on their next possession when quarterback Justin Garrett found Alonzo Davis in the end zone for a 25-yard touchdown to make the score 16-7. Gahr was unable to get any closer for the rest of the night.

Indians’ quarterback Jordan Lawton completed 9 of 21 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Safety Jonoven Smith had a great night as well as he intercepted two Gahr passes in the fourth quarter. Fullerton has a bye next week.
