Two major meets on opposite ends of Orange County will make Saturday one of the busiest and most competitive days of the swimming and diving regular season.

The Mission Viejo Invitational will play host to teams from throughout the state while the finals of the girls Millikan Southern Section Relays will be held at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos.

The Mission Viejo Invitational kicks off at 9 a.m. with prelims at the Marguerite Recreation Center. The meet also features afternoon finals, boys and girls diving and perhaps a sneak peak for this season’s inaugural state championships.

Crean Lutheran’s girls lead the county contingent for Mission Viejo. Stanford-bound Ella Eastin is entered in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Her sister, Emily, will race the 100 free and 100 back.

San Clemente’s Aidan Pastel (200 free, 50 free) and Josh Swart (200 free, 100 back) and Laguna Beach’s Purdue-bound Erik Juliusson (200 IM, 100 free) are boys to watch.

Thirty-seven girls entered the 11-dive competition, including reigning CIF-SS Division 1 champion Camryn Hidalgo of Capistrano Valley.

At the relays, Santa Margarita’s top-ranked girls are seeded first in six of the seven events. The finals start at 5 p.m.
