Mission Viejo quarterback Brock Johnon was awarded the Orange County Prep Football Player of the Year trophy during the player recognition dinner Thursday night in Santa Ana for the Brea Lions Orange County All-Star Football Game.
The Georgetown-bound senior guided the Diablos (16-0) to CIF-SS West Valley and state bowl championships in the fall and was selected The O.C. Register offensive player of the year.
Johnson is not playing in the game, scheduled for Friday July 8 at Orange Coast College. He departs the same day for Georgetown.
Johnson passed for a single-season school record 3,605 yards and 41 TDs last season. He also finished his career guiding Mission Viejo to 28 consecutive victories.
