OCVarsity has the pairings and analysis for all of the CIF-SS girls basketball divisions.

OPEN DIVISION

Top four seeds: 1. Long Beach Poly; 2. Etiwanda; 3. Windward; 4. Sierra Canyon.

Playoff dates: First round (Feb. 18), Quarterfinals (Feb. 21), Semifinals (Feb. 24), Championship game (March 3 or 4). Consolation bracket: Second round (Feb. 21), Semifinals (Feb. 24), final (March 3 or 4).

CONNOLLY’S COMMENTS:  All five county schools will be on the road this Saturday, as each is the lower-seeded squad and subsequent underdog in the first round. … Orangewood Academy earned the highest of the area’s seeds, a No. 9 bid that takes it to play a Ventura team it lost to twice a season ago. … On paper, the Spartans and fellow San Joaquin League mate Fairmont Prep appear to have the best chances at advancing to the winner’s side of the bracket. … Mater Dei has the daunting task at trying to slow down Harvard-Westlake’s two-headed attack in talented twins Jayda and Jayla Ruffus-Milner. … Brea Olinda will travel to take on a Long Beach Poly team many believe will win the entire tournament. … Troy coach Roger Anderson figured he would be seeing Alemany again in the playoffs, but with one of the top players in the state, Kianna Smith, the Warriors are a lively 12-seed that’s plenty capable of avenging the nine-point loss it suffered against Alemany in December. … The top four seeds appear to be overwhelming favorites at this stage, so getting past the second round would be huge if any local squad was able to do so.

All games 7 p.m. unless noted.
