DOWNEY – Buena Park’s Zach Taylor wore out Warren of Downey with his arm and legs on Friday night, completing 13 of his 22 passes for 179 yards and rushing for 123 yards on 19 carries.

The junior quarterback ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter and passed for another two scores in the fourth to guide Buena Park to a 25-0 victory over the Bears at Warren High in a nonleague game.

The Coyotes (3-0) scored on their first two drives of the game, with the touchdowns from Taylor less than six minutes apart.

Max Rivera’s 62-yard kickoff return set up the Coyotes’ first score – a 24-yard carry by Taylor.

The Coyotes padded their advantage with 4:45 remaining in the first on Taylor’s 18-yard rush (his fourth touchdown of the season) to seal a seven-play, 48-yard march.

Buena Park held Warren to 29 yards rushing and 12 yards passing in the first half. The Bears (0-2) could not advance past the Coyotes’ 48-yard line in the first half.

Taylor has now passed for 11 touchdowns this year after connecting with Alijah Allen and Adryon Vickers on touchdown passes of 36 and 35 yards, respectively, in the fourth.

Buena Park’s defense recorded its second shutout of the season.

Thanks to a couple of interceptions. The Coyotes have now outscored opponents 143-6 after their first three games.

Buena Park continues its nonleague schedule with its fourth straight road game of the season when it takes on Esperanza at Yorba Linda High on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
