The Woodbridge Invitational is known for featuring some of the fastest times produced during the cross country season.

Meet co-director George Varvas doesn’t expect that to change this year, even with a change in location.

With its regular location, Irvine’s Great Park, closed due to construction at the site, the two-day meet will be held at Silverlakes Sports Park in Norco. Silverlakes is a largely flat course that traverses an array of soccer fields.

The races begin Friday at 4:50 p.m. and continue Saturday, beginning at 3:50 p.m., which allows for the majority of the 13,500-plus registered runners to partake in the meet’s famed “under the lights” experience.

The meet will feature 296 teams from nine different states, with the featured rated and sweepstakes races beginning at 8:54 p.m. on Saturday night.

On the boys side, the sweepstakes race will include four of the county’s top five teams: Brea Olinda, Canyon, Trabuco Hills and Valencia.

Top-ranked Capistrano Valley, No. 2 Canyon, and No. 5 Mission Viejo will compete in the girls sweepstakes race. …

El Dorado’s Lucina Vincent (17:40) and Valencia’s Ethan Frisone (15:38) set course records in the Pat Hadley Memorial Invitational at Tri-City Park in Placentia on Saturday.

Vincent, who was an All-County selection as a sophomore last year, will run in the girls sweepstakes race at the Woodbridge Invitational as an individual.
