OCVARSITY.COM

Gigi Fletcher scored a goal off a deflection on a short corner to give Edison's girls field hockey team a 1-0 victory over Huntington Beach on Tuesday that clinched the Sunset League title for the visiting Chargers (7-0-2 in league).

Edison can wrap up the top seed in the playoffs with a victory over Fountain Valley on Friday.

Tuesday's contest was a typically low-scoring battle between the Chargers and Oilers (6-2-1 in league). They split their first two meetings this season, with both games ending in 1-0 scores.

Ava Kime had the assist on Fletcher's goal Tuesday.

Goalie Kaylie Thompson had two saves for Edison, and defender Melanie Enciso had a defensive save.
