Yorba Linda forward Isaac Douglass on Monday signed with Fullerton’s Hope International, an NAIA program coming off a banner year.

A 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior, Douglass averages north of 17 points a game for the No. 10 Mustangs, who play No. 6 Servite on Saturday in the opening round of the Orange Holiday Classic at Hope International.

“In all my years coaching, he’s right up there with the best offensive players I’ve had,” fifth-year Yorba Linda coach Jason Pietsch said.

Douglass, the reigning North Hills League MVP and a fourth-team All-Orange County forward last season, is Pietsch’s third letter winner to sign, the heir to former teammates Brad Johnson (Domincan University of California) and Sharthak Mukhopadhyay (Puget Sound).

Hope International won 32 games and the GSAC championship last season. The Royals later advanced to the NAIA Division I national semifinals.

“He’s going to have his work cut out for him to compete at that level,” Pietsch said. “He’ll have to get stronger, but the guy can score.”
