Boys swimming coach of the year
Ken Dory, Mater Dei, 4th year
Dory blended swimmers with athletes who focus on water polo to build a deep team that defended its Trinity League title, finished ranked No. 1 in the Orange County and captured three meet championships. Dory, a former coach of the year at Irvine, guided Mater Dei to titles at the Capistrano Valley Relays, Palm Springs Invitational and Foothill Swim Games. “At the beginning of the season, I didn’t really think that was what we were going to do,” Dory said. “The kids were just really fast and really into it.”
