OCVarsity’s preview for the 2015 season:
EL DORADO GOLDEN HAWKS
Coach: Zack LaMonda
Last season: 0-10 overall, 0-3 league
Scouting report: A new regime takes over at El Dorado under first-year coach Zack LaMonda, a Servite grad who also served as an assistant coach on the school’s 2009 and 2010 CIF-SS championship teams. In the Golden Hawks, LaMonda takes over the county’s lowest scoring offense in 2014. (El Dorado mustered 77 points in 10 games.) With only four starters returning from last year’s squad, El Dorado is slated to start seven underclassmen on offense and 10 on defense. Junior quarterback Austin Shear gets the nod at quarterback.
Bottom line: New coaching staff, new playbook and 18 new starters is a ton for any program to deal with in one season. This is a rebuilding year for El Dorado.
Players to watch: Omar Farman, LB, Jr.; Cole Hansen, LB, Jr.; Marcel Lyons, RB, Jr.; Josh Manassero, CB, Jr.; Austin Shear, QB, Jr.
