Last year, saw brothers Justin and Jeremy Thomas fall a bit short of winning individual titles at the Doc Buchanan Invitational.

After the first day of this year’s tournament, the brothers, now at Calvary Chapel, showed that they are ready to complete the deal this year.

Justin (160) won all three of his matches by fall to advance to the semifinals. Jeremy (170) had a first-round bye and then recorded consecutive victories by fall to advance to the semifinals as well.

Their teammate Elijah Palacio (106) is also in the semifinals. Palacio had a couple of victories by major decision and then by fall in the quarterfinals.

Thomas Brothers and Palacio are the only county wrestlers in the semifinals.

Calvary Chapel has three alive in the consolation bracket: Luciano Arroyo (120), Johnny Knowles (138) and Morris Wilner (182).

Calvary Chapel ended the first day in seventh place in the team standings.

Esperanza’s Jacob Gunter (113) and Josh Brown (120) are alive in the consolation round.

San Clemente’s duo of Tyler Meisinger (152) and Kyle Marshall (170), Anthony Le (Laguna Hills, 120) and Eddie Salgado (heavyweight) will also begin Saturday in the consolation bracket.
