New CIF football polls bring Southwest shake-up
Check out how the county teams fared in the latest rankings by the coaches.
The battles that took place on the football fields last week had a big impact on the rankings that were released by the CIF-SS on Monday.
In the biggest shake-up, Foothill moved up to No. 1 in the Southwest Division, taking over the top spot from Fullerton, which lost to La Habra on Friday. The Highlanders had hoped to take over the No. 1 ranking, but they fell just short of their goal, coming in at No. 2.
The CIF-SS polls are based on voting by the division coaches and selected media members.
There were three other teams from O.C. ranked No. 1: Laguna Hills (Southern Division), St. Margaret's (East Valey Division) and Saddleback Valley Christian (Northeast Division).
In the Pac-5 Division, Long Beach Poly continued to hold the top spot, followed by Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, Tesoro, Orange Lutheran and Los Alamitos.
Don't forget to check out the new O.C. Top 10 and Fryer's picks for the county's 11-25 teams.
