O.C. PRESEASON DUAL MEET TOP 10

1. Santa Margarita: The Eagles graduated their dynamic duo of Grant Shoults and Marc Morizono, but believe they have better dual-meet depth. Kevin Tu, Noah Brune and Alex Qu help lead the new-look fleet.

2. Mater Dei: The defending Trinity League champion appears primed for another strong season with the return of sprint star Christian Hockenbury. But the Monarchs will again have their hands full with Santa Margarita.

3. Northwood: The Timberwolves loom as the next powerhouse from Irvine. Don’t be surprised if Hunter Hitchens and Co. contend for top spots in Orange County and Division 1.

4. Foothill: The deep Knights pace the Crestview League, which dips to Division 2. Foothill could be in the hunt for a CIF crown.

5. Dana Hills: The Dolphins and Trent Pellini have the scoring potential in the pool and perhaps the boards to again make waves in Division 1. They finished second last year to Loyola.

6. University: The Trojans might not be a Division 1 powerhouse but they’re still dangerous with seniors Andrew Knoell, George Horvath and Sean Messer.

7. Los Alamitos: The Griffins could have enough depth to extend their reign in the Sunset League.

8. Edison: Seniors Dylan Nelson and emerging distance ace Johnny Bramm should help keep the Chargers competitive.

9. Corona del Mar: Fiery Coach Barry O’Dea is on leave to care for his elderly father, but the Sea Kings should still be in the mix under veteran Doug Volding, who is coaching boys and girls.

10. San Clemente: The Tritons and Brad Prolo showed some early muscle by edging Dana Hills in their opener, 86-84.

Others: Aliso Niguel, Brea Olinda, Mission Viejo, Newport Harbor, Tesoro
