Highlanders’ hot run in playoffs ended with 63-42 loss to second-seeded Murrieta Valley in Division 2 semifinals.

Crestview League champion Spartans were eliminated in the Division 3 first round by Los Alamitos, which went on to semifinals.

Cougars took the trip to Riverside and came home with a 20-14 win over M.L. King in Division 5 semifinals.

Stallions’ losses were to Buena Park, San Clemente, Mission Viejo and Edison – those teams are a combined 43-7.

16. Yorba Linda 11-2 (99)

Jaydyn Webb’s running, tough defense and a fortunate bounce helped Yorba Linda beat El Modena, 28-21, in Division 8 semifinals.

17. El Modena 11-2 (91)

Vanguards lost in Division 8 semifinals, and there’s nothing wrong with advancing to semis for a third year in a row.

In retrospect, Titans’ 69-0 loss to Mater Dei in Division 1 first round doesn’t look so bad with Mater Dei in Division 1 finals.

19. Newport Harbor 5-5 (63)

If you’re looking for the best O.C. team that did not get a playoff berth, Sailors probably are that team.

20. Tustin 9-3 (56)

Titans, co-champions of the Empire League, lost to San Gorgonio in Division 7 second round; San Gorgonio advanced to finals.

21. Troy 7-4 (50)

Warriors, who finished third in the Freeway League, were eliminated in Division 5 first round by St. Joseph of Santa Maria.

22. El Toro 4-7 (40)

Among Chargers’ losses — Capistrano Valley and Corona del Mar, which are in CIF-SS championship games this week, and Mission Viejo.

23. Canyon 5-7 (19)

Comanches, third-place finisher in Crestview League, lost by five points to CIF-SS Division 8 finalist Yorba Linda in league play.

24. Santa Ana 13-0 (17)

Two Orange County teams are undefeated going into the CIF-SS finals; Saints are one of them.

25. Valencia 4-7 (12)

One of more improved teams during the season were Tigers – 0-5 in nonleague, 4-1 and co-champions in Empire League.
